MEET ME, JOAQUIM DUZENTA, UPF MOZAMBIQUE

Hi Joaquim! Tell me more about you! Hello, my name is Joaquim Roberto Duzenta and I am 28 years old. I was born in Beira, Mozambique, and come from a modest background. I completed my secondary education in the same city, and I am currently studying Business Management and Human Resources at the Adventist University of Mozambique here in Beira. I am passionate about soccer, and until a few years ago, I thought I would become a professional player.
What is your background for choosing the industry? I come from a background in healthcare projects, but I discovered an interest in logistics and recognised a pathway for both personal and professional growth within this sector. The shift was driven by the challenging and unpredictable nature of logistics operations and the realisation that no two days are the same. I thrive under pressure and am driven by the need to solve problems in real time, which makes logistics the perfect field for me.
What is your role at the office? My daily work revolves around the dynamic ecosystem of import documentation.
My role extends far beyond routine administrative tasks, I am also committed to building and managing strategic relationships with agents, clients, and partners to ensure transparent communication and seamless operations. I closely monitor each stage of the import process, ensuring compliance with regulations and deadlines from origin to destination.
In an industry where every minute counts, I am motivated by the need for immediate solutions. It is a role that requires resilience and precision, and I find it extremely rewarding to be the link that ensures compliance and efficient delivery, exceeding our customers’ expectations and optimising the supply chain.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In five years, I hope to complete my studies and gradually take on more responsibility at UPF, with the aim of potentially moving into a leadership role. My goal to expand my understanding of logistics management and support improvements in operational processes, while aligning with the company’s long-term objectives.
Additionally, I hope to explore the integration of data analytics technologies to enable more predictive decision-making and possibly support the company in moving towards more sustainable logistics practices. Ideally, I would like to contribute meaningfully to UPF’s growth and success and, if the opportunity arises, help mentor and develop the next generation of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and adaptability within the organisation.
