MEET ME, DANIELLE MALEKA, UPF CORE SERVICES

Hi Danielle! Tell me more about you! I am 25 years of age, and I come from a small town called Lebowakgomo in Limpopo, South Africa. I am a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in Financial Accounting graduate and I am currently studying my Postgraduate Diploma in Management Accounting. 

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping fit, going for a run/walk or hiking. I also enjoy watching sports (football & F1), movies and spending time with my family, so I am very often home with them.  

What is your background for choosing the industry? I worked in the marketing industry for 4 years before transitioning to logistics. I’d say what attracted me was how fast paced, dynamic and operational the industry is, it requires constant problem solving and partnering with other teams (operations) to solve problems and those are the environments I genuinely enjoy working in. 

What is your role at the office? As a Financial Controller, I am responsible for verifying all data input on our operational system and making sure it follows the current authorization matrix. I am also responsible for creating a weekly compliance report and assisting in solving finance issues.  

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I have a great desire in obtaining my Chartered Management Accountant designation, so in the next 5 years I want to have completed my postgrad, passed my board exams and obtained the designation. I also want to have taken on more work, managed more projects and in a leadership role.
