Hi Anton! Tell me more about you!

I am a 25-year-old originally from Pretoria, South Africa. I completed my Master’s degree in Maritime Transport Management at Antwerp Management School in Belgium, where I developed a strong interest in global trade, logistics, and the complexities of maritime operations. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, which gives me a chance to unwind and stay active. I also value spending quality time with my family, as they are an important part of my life. I have a keen interest in exploring different types of beer and enjoy discovering new flavors and brewing styles. Additionally, I am naturally curious and enjoy researching new ideas, constantly looking for opportunities to learn and expand my perspective in our industry. 

What is your background for choosing the industry?

I was drawn to the industry because of the complexity and constant challenges it presents. During my studies, a professor once said that “the supply chain starts with logistics,” which really resonated with me. It highlighted how central logistics is to enable global trade and keeping markets functioning efficiently. What excites me most is the opportunity to build and execute solutions within such a dynamic, interconnected environment, especially considering that the maritime industry is responsible for moving roughly 90% of global cargo by volume. The industry sits at the heart of global commerce, and I am motivated by the impact it has on economies, businesses, and everyday life. 

What is role at the office?

I work as a Project Coordinator, where I focus on building and implementing logistics solutions for clients across various industries. My role involves understanding client requirements and designing solutions that are both reliable and cost-effective. On a day-to-day basis, I coordinate with different stakeholders, manage timelines, and ensure the smooth execution of each project. I am involved not only in planning the logistics strategy but also in overseeing its implementation to make sure it delivers the intended results. 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 

With the experience and support of the team at UPF, I see myself progressing into a Project Manager role within the next five years. I aim to be leading and managing multiple projects independently, particularly across Africa. I want to continue developing my expertise in delivering efficient logistics solutions while taking on greater responsibility, contributing to the company’s growth, and driving successful project outcomes across the region.
