MEET ME, CHICK HENRY TEBO, UPF CAMEROON

Hi Chick Henry! Tell me more about you! My name is Chick Henry Tebo, I am 33 years old and I was born in Bamenda in the northwest region of Cameroon. I have a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Buea and a master’s degree in law from the University of Dschang in Cameroon. I also possess a Higher National Diploma in Logistics and Transport from the University Institute of Technology Douala in Cameroon. During my free time I love travelling and watching football. My favourite football team is Manchester City, and the player I admire most is Lionel Messi. Although travelling is one of my favourite pastimes, I have never had the opportunity to travel outside of Cameroon.
What is your background for choosing the industry? I started my higher education with a dream of becoming a magistrate. It was very difficult gaining admission into the National School of Administration and Magistracy in Cameroon after completing my master’s degree in law. During challenging times, I took up a position as a driver assistant with a transport company. In this role, I supported the driver by handling various manual tasks at delivery sites. Later, a senior colleague recommended that I pursue a qualification in Logistics and Transport. I decided to follow this advice and enrolled in the course, which opened up new opportunities for me. Today, I am truly passionate about working in the transport and logistics field, despite having once aspired to an administrative role as a magistrate.
What is your role at the office? I am the Operations Controller at UPF Cameroon. My day-to-day activities is to follow up on every ongoing operation. I coordinate with external suppliers to ensure a smooth and seamless flow of operations. I reply to e-mails from our clients, providing regular updates on operational progress and highlighting any bottlenecks encountered. I am also responsible for compiling and sharing daily reports with our clients on operations and sharing weekly reports with management.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In the next 5 years, I wish for personal development and growth. I see myself holding positions of responsibility like a managerial role. I plan to actively invest in my personal development and branding, striving to reach the full extent of my potential. For career growth, I trust that with dedication and faith, opportunities will arise to take my career in the direction meant for me. Every employee wants to be where they feel valued, understood, and appreciated; I believe these qualities are essential for true happiness and fulfilment at work.
