Meet me,
EMMA BENARD,
UPF Tanzania.

Hi Emma! Tell me more about you! My name is Emma Benard, and I’m soon turning 35. I was born and raised in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, where I currently reside with my daughter. With a diploma in Shipping and Port Management, I’m a highly industrious woman with a passion for innovation and a quick grasp of new concepts. As a team player, I am dedicated to upholding professional ethics and honesty, always striving to bring my best to every endeavor. Nature has blessed me with both a love for helping others, especially children, and a strong desire to volunteer at a local charity center. I find immense joy in extending a helping hand whenever I can. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, exploring different cultures, and indulging in my fondness for stand-up comedy.

What is your background for choosing the industry? I truly appreciate the industry I work in because it offers me constant challenges and opportunities for personal growth. It’s an environment that allows me to learn new things and develop my skills continuously. One of my main focuses is to deliver exceptional customer service by improving communication channels, tracking systems and order fulfillment processes. I believe in being proactive when it comes to addressing customer concerns and providing real-time updates on shipments. Moreover, I’m eager to enhance my abilities in time management, problem solving and communication to become even more effective in my role.

What is role at the office? Every day, my work revolves around the exciting world of import and export documentation. I take charge of managing the entire process, both local and during transit. It’s my passion to liaise with agents, clients, and counterparts from different countries, ensuring smooth communication and coordination. Keeping a close eye on the entire import process is vital, from the initial stages until they reach their destination. It’s a fast-paced and challenging role, but I find it incredibly rewarding to play a crucial part in making sure everything is well-organized and delivered efficiently for our customers.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In the next five years, I see myself on a remarkable career trajectory, building upon the expertise I have gained during my seven years in this industry. My ambition is to assume greater responsibilities within the company, taking up leadership roles that allow me to make a meaningful impact and drive positive changes.  One of the key factors that led me to choose my current job at UPF was that I noticed a culture of continuous learning, enabling me to develop and refine my skills. This supportive environment perfectly aligns with my career goal and inspires me. Being part of such a workplace is truly motivating and I am excited about the opportunities it presents for personal and professional growth.
