MEET ME, MADS JOHANNESSEN, UPF DENMARK

Hi Mads! Tell me more about you! My name is Mads Johannessen, I am 27 years old, and I live in Odder, Denmark with my family, which includes my fiancé, our 4-year-old daughter, and soon, our son, who is due in January.

I am an educated Freight Forwarder, having completed my education with Martin Bencher. Over the last 4 years I have been working in the OOG department at CMA CGM’s Aarhus office as a Customer Service Officer.

When I am not working, you can either find me at home in the kitchen, on the floor playing with my daughter, or on the couch watching the football match of the day.

What is your background for choosing the industry? After I finished high school, I took a couple of gap years, during which I worked at a nursery. When I felt ready to pursue further education, I spoke with one of the managers at Martin Bencher at the time, who told me about the field, the industry, and what to expect, experience, and learn. I found that very exciting, so I applied for an apprenticeship with them and was hired in their Supply Chain department.

What is your role at the office? I am still very new, I have only been here for around 2 weeks, and so far, my daily work consists of providing solutions and obtaining prices for our customers’ inquiries. I am operationally responsible for managing my own cases, and it is also my responsibility to give customers the best possible service and support.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? This is always a very thought-provoking question, as I tend to focus on living in the present and making the most out of current opportunities. However, in five years, I see myself continuing to grow within UPF, having gained significant experience and contributing to the company’s ongoing success. I hope to be in a role where I can lead projects, and ultimately, I want to play a key part in UPF’s growth, seeing it evolve and achieve our long-term goals.
